Documentary about the political and ideological leader of India. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, born in October 1869, led an eventful life. In 1919, British plans to intern people suspected of sedition - the Rowlatt Acts - prompted Gandhi to announce a new satyagraha and by 1920 he was a prominent politcal figure. When violence broke out during the formation of the independent states of India and Pakistan in 1947, Ghandi attempted to bring peace to Calcutta and Delhi. The following year he was shot by a Hindu nationalist during a prayer meeting.
